Office/Reception Staff
Lisa Dumont, CSAMP
Lisa is an original east coaster coming to us from Massachusetts after living in Ireland for 2 years. Lisa has extensive experience in pet rescue, volunteering with organizations in Mass., Ireland, and Portland. She is an experienced puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for Blind and Dogs for the Disabled. She currently has a chocolate lab, Gunner, who is a retired NEADS service dog and a demo dog for Canines for Disabled Kids. Lisa's latest addition is yellow lab, Autumn, a career change guide dog. Lisa is a graduate of NW School of Animal Massage. Gunner and Autumn share their mom with her with husband, Andy and Mimmi the cat. Her interests include European travel, hiking, and hot sauces.
Shelley Young
Shelley, originally from Hawaii, came to Portland in 1975. Shelley received her degree in Music from Portland State. She is a volunteer naturalist at Oxbow State Park where she gives tours to school children. She also sings with the Columbia Chorale of Oregon and performed at Carnage Hall last year. She and her husband of 30 yrs, Robert, have 3 grown children and 3 cats.
Rehab Technicians/Assistants
Laura Wilson, CVT
Laura attended West Texas State University a long time ago where she received a BS in Chemistry/Physics. She taught Jr. High and High School science and math for 6 years, later pursuing a career in corporate OSHA training delivery and development. She came to OR in 1997 and ran a small business in Hillsboro with her sister. After 8 years in the dog wash and pet retail business, she came to Back on Track 3.5 years ago.She is also working towards her certificate in canine physical rehabilitation through the Canine Rehab Institute in Florida. She currently lives with 5 dogs and 3 cats all of which have interesting rescue stories. Her interests include flyball, animal assisted therapy, and playing drums.
Kristin Finstad, CVT
Kristen grew up in Buffalo, NY and made her way west via Southern Florida and the Bahamas where she explored the islands by sailboat. Having been involved with animals all of her life, she began her veterinary career in Portland achieving certification in 1993. She worked in small animal and exotic practices gaining extensive knowlege of avian medicine. In addition to participating in catch, alter, release programs for feral cats, she has rescued and rehabilitated a variety of wildlife and nursed exotic birds in her own aviary. She volunteers with the Audubon Society Wildlife Care Center and the Portland Animal Welfare Team clinics. Kristin remains the ever faithful personal servants to 2 cats, Yoshi and Patches.
Alicia Harget
Alicia is a Certified Hemodialysis Technician with Providence St. Vincent who shares herself with Back on Track as a Rehab Assistant on a part time basis. She has been working with Back on Track for over 2 years. She is an avid animal lovers and "mom" to 2 Great Danes, 3 turtles, and an increasing number of Koi fish. She has volunteered with several rescue groups, humane societies, and spay clinics.
Daniel P. Spaniel, RTD
Found along a rural TX highway, brought to a shelter, and shuffled into foster care, this somewhat naughty 4 month old spaniel mix's talent for comfort and care were recognized and harnessed by our technician, Laura. He is currently a Delta Society Register Therapy Dog and has been for nearly 7 years. Daniel has assumed Back on Track's roles of official meeter/greeter, part-time rehab assistant, and part-time therapy dog. He uses his skills acting as demo dog for exercises, foot wrapping, etc., offers calming support to nervous pets and people, and lends loving comfort to those who are saying forever goodbyes to a beloved family member. He was recognized by the Delta Society with an Honorable Mention in the Beyond Limits Therapy Animal Awards for 2006 and by the OVMA with an Oregon Animal Hall of Fame Award in 2007. His interests include working with developmentally delayed kids at the ARC of Washington County, cookie tasting, getting petted, and napping. He and his human partner often participate in the Delta Society's public awareness and educational activities.
